Youngest Player, Lamine Yamal, Makes Euro History
Lamine Yamal, aged 16 years and 338 days, made his debut in the Spain-Croatia match in Group B at Euro 2024, becoming the youngest player ever to play in a game at the continental tournament, as reported by Gsp.ro. At the end of the first half, the player also provided an assist for Carvajal’s goal.
The previous record was held by Poland’s goalkeeper at Euro 2020, Kacper Kozlowski, who debuted against Spain at the age of 17 years and 246 days.
The Pole broke Jude Bellingham’s record by 6 days. The Englishman played at Euro at the age of 17 years and 349 days.
The Barcelona player has set a series of precocity records. He was already the youngest player to wear the colors of Barcelona and the youngest to play for the Spanish national team.
Lamine Yamal is still a student and strives for academic excellence as well. Even during the European Championship, he does not neglect his studies.
“I brought my homework because I’m in the fourth year of ESO. I have online classes, and I’m doing well. I hope the teacher doesn’t call me out in class,” said the Spanish footballer according to news.ro.
