John Hargreaves, aged 34, intentionally crashed his SUV into the Independence Township Police Department headquarters in Warren County, New Jersey, as the song “Welcome to the Jungle” blared from his car speakers, according to local police quoted by WFMZ portal. Miraculously, no one was injured.
The Warren County Prosecutor’s Office has released the incredible video, recorded on September 20. The footage shows that after driving his car into the police station, the armed man gets out, raises his hands in the air, and seems to celebrate his act, while officers take him into custody.
Authorities did not specify if Hargreaves was drunk or under the influence of illegal substances. Fortunately, no one was injured in the accident.
Khillian Bernard, an on-duty officer, explained, “I heard screeching brakes and suddenly a car appeared in our building. It almost demolished it!”
“I thought that maybe someone had accidentally pressed the accelerator instead of the brake,” said Lt. Chris Prell, of the Independence Township Police Department.
“He exited the vehicle, raising his arms in a manner that seemed to be a celebration,” explained Warren County Prosecutor Jim Pfeiffer.
He could have killed a police officer… only by God’s grace, there was no one in the office at that moment.

The driver, who stated that he intended to surrender for other offenses, will be charged with breaking and entering and possession of weapons. Furthermore, due to the action at the police station, considered an attack, he will face charges of terrorism, attempted serious bodily harm, and property damage.
For the terrorism charge, Hargreaves faces a potential life sentence (minimum 30 years).
