The Bacalaureat maturity exam is in full swing, and students and parents are experiencing high emotions, hoping that the digital assessment platform will function correctly and the grades, which determine university admission, will be calculated without errors.

According to the Bacalaureat methodology for 2024, in order to pass, students must take all exam tests and obtain a minimum grade of 5 in each written test, with the final average being at least 6. The document also specifies what happens if a candidate achieves a general average of 5.99, according to Digi24.
The written papers are digitally corrected. Students will solve their exams on answer sheets, which will be scanned by teachers in front of the candidates. After scanning, the anonymized papers will be uploaded to a platform and randomly sent to two evaluating teachers. If the difference between the grades awarded by them is more than 1 point, another two evaluators are nominated for reevaluation. The grades given by the four evaluators are recorded on the paper, and the final grade is calculated from their average.
After completing this step, for each candidate who has obtained at least a grade of 5 in all written tests, the overall Bacalaureat grade is calculated as an arithmetic average, with two decimal places, without rounding, from the grades obtained in each test.
According to the methodology, the overall Bacalaureat grade is not calculated for candidates who have not passed one or more tests, have not attended all tests, or have been disqualified from a test.
The Bacalaureat exam is considered passed by students who cumulatively meet the following conditions: they have taken the competence evaluation tests, have taken all written tests, have obtained at least a grade of 5 in each of them, and an average of at least 6 in the written tests.
A candidate who refuses to answer or solve the proposed subjects in one of the linguistic and digital competence assessment tests is considered not to have passed that specific test.
The grades in the written tests are calculated as an arithmetic average, with two decimal places, without rounding, and represent the overall average. For candidates who obtain a general average of 5.99, this is rounded up to 6.00.
Candidates who have attended all exam tests but do not simultaneously meet all the mentioned conditions or those who have not attended all tests or have been removed from the exam room are declared rejected.
Those caught cheating or attempting to cheat on a test within the Bacalaureat exam can no longer participate in subsequent tests and are declared “eliminated from the exam,” without the possibility of recognizing the grades in the tests passed prior to elimination or the linguistic and digital competence evaluation tests in the following sessions. These candidates are considered not to have passed the Bacalaureat exam.
