Antonio was transported to the hospital immediately after the accident, unconscious and he passed away on Sunday night, after being placed on a respirator, according to News.ro.
“The impact was so violent that he went into cardiac arrest on the spot. The doctor had told us that the brain pressure and hemorrhage would increase and that in less than 24 hours he would be declared brain dead,” said Antonio’s brother, Jack Loiacono, to a local television station.
Antonio was declared brain dead on Sunday afternoon, but the family learned that he would save two lives. “He is an organ donor. He is saving a little boy and a 19-year-old, and even though we are sad, that is good news,” his brother explained, according to Australian press.
