Csikszereda’s New President Promises Harsh Measures After Humiliating Defeat, Discusses Shocking Demotion of Sepsi
In an interview with ProSport, Csikszereda’s newly appointed president, Zoltan Szondi, expressed his satisfaction regarding the team’s promotion to Liga 1 but also admitted feeling distressed over Sepsi’s demotion. “We’re thrilled about getting promoted, yet we can’t shake off the sadness of what happened to Sepsi,” he mentioned, highlighting that Csikszereda’s fate in recent matches has been a matter of great concern.
After suffering a humiliating 0-4 defeat against FC Argeș, Szondi declared his intention to take drastic actions. “We’ve worked tirelessly for this moment and now we see players who are acting as if they’re already stars after just one promotion,” he stated bitterly. “It’s unacceptable to think that way in our club. The performance during the match against FC Argeș was disgraceful, with some of our players barely making an effort,” Szondi continued.
Discussing the unexpected turn of events for Sepsi, who had been on track for a first-place finish before suffering relegation after losing to Slobozia 2-1 in their final match, Szondi expressed his disappointment. “We’re genuinely sorry about what happened to Sepsi,” he said. “It’s a city with significant football investments and it’s hard to believe they deserved such a demotion.”
Szondi concluded by emphasizing that Csikszereda remains committed to returning to their winning ways, hoping for the same from Sepsi in the near future. “We’re going back to basics and expect every player to step up,” he reiterated.
