The US Secretary of State, Antony Blinken, has delivered a strong message to Russian President Vladimir Putin, stating that he is “mistaken” if he believes he “will survive” the war he initiated against Ukraine.

During a joint press conference with NATO Secretary-General Jens Stoltenberg on Tuesday, the US Secretary of State emphasized the assistance provided by Western countries to Ukraine.

“In recent weeks, we have worked to expedite the delivery of aid to the front lines to ensure that Ukrainians have what they need to combat Russian aggression,” Blinken stated, praising the “courage and resilience” of the attacked party, which he believes is “handling the challenges in Kharkiv and the eastern part of the country.”

Commenting on the security agreement signed between the US and Ukraine, Blinken expressed confidence that an additional 20 countries will sign similar agreements before the NATO summit scheduled for July 9-11 in Washington.

“This is (…) a clear sign that all our partners are standing by Ukraine in the long term. And if Putin expects to survive Ukraine, that any of us will survive, then he is mistaken. He is wrong. I believe you will see a summit that will further highlight this,” stated the US Secretary of State, as reported by the Ukrainian publication Zerkalo Nedeli.

On the other hand, Antony Blinken condemned China’s support for Russia’s war efforts and called for an end to this collaboration.

“What they are doing… is providing essential support to Russia’s military-industrial complex,” said the US Secretary of State, citing that approximately “70% of machine tools imported by Russia come from China,” as well as “90% of microelectronics.” This “enables Russia to maintain its military-industrial base, sustain the war machine, and continue the war. Therefore, this must stop,” Blinken stated. The US increasingly criticizes the indirect assistance provided by Beijing and Chinese companies to Russia’s war efforts. China supplies components and equipment that support Russia’s military-industrial complex, impacting the battlefield in Ukraine, according to AFP via Agerpres. “China cannot play both sides. It cannot continue to have normal trade relations with European countries and, at the same time, fuel the largest war Europe has seen since World War II,” said Jens Stoltenberg.
