Hydroelectric, the largest electricity producer in Romania, makes an extremely important announcement regarding the payment of bills. The news is unexpectedly good for customers.

What 600,000 Hydroelectric customers need to know about bill payment

Exactly a year ago, due to the chaos with delayed electricity bills, Hydroelectric was fined 400,000 lei by the National Energy Regulatory Authority.

The ANRE decision was made in the spring of 2023 after a thorough inspection started at the beginning of the year, following numerous complaints from customers. The issues reported at Hydroelectric at that time were: significant delays in billing and electricity supply contracts sent to customers, also with delays, exceeding the legal time limit.

Meanwhile, the state-owned company has made some improvements. On Tuesday, May 21, Hydroelectric, the largest energy producer in Romania, announced that it is starting to issue bills to Romanians for April 2024.

This process takes place over two days. It started on the previous day and will also take place on Wednesday, May 22, according to company representatives cited by Antena 3.

It is worth noting that Hydroelectric bills can be paid over a fairly extended period. It is 45 days for residential customers and 30 days for non-residential consumers. No penalties are charged for these periods.

Another piece of good news for Romanians with bills at Hydroelectric

Also this spring, Romanians with contracts at Hydroelectric received another important piece of news. The domestic electricity producer announced that Romanians will have the opportunity to pay their bills through the iHydro application.

It is available on both the App Store and Google Play. With iHydro, company customers can pay their bills more quickly, view their billing history, check the balance, or submit the monthly meter readings.

The iHydro application is divided into several sections:

  • Billing: Here you can access issued bills and payment history.
  • Usage: This section allows you to enter self-readings and check consumption history.
  • My Account: In this section, customers can manage their profiles and personal details.
  • Services: In this section, a link to the client.hydroelectric portal is available, and soon a link to Q Desk – the application for managing complaints and reports will also be added.
