Alpinist Maria Dănilă’s performance was announced Wednesday afternoon by the Romanian Alpin Club – Brașov, of which she is a member.

The mountaineering club officials also released a message from the climber, stating that the ascent took 17 hours.

The Romanian alpinist was part of a Nepalese team and climbed accompanied by a Sherpa. She reached an altitude of over 8,000 meters using an oxygen cylinder.

“On April 15, around 11:20, shortly after the rope fixing team, I also reached the summit. I was part of the Imagine Nepal team, and I climbed with a Sherpa and oxygen. The summit day was very tough because we started directly from lower C3, which is around 6,200m… and we waited for the rope fixing for the last 3-400 meters… so the ascent alone took about 17 hours,” stated the message from the climber, published by her club.
