Marcel Ciolacu, the leader of the Social Democratic Party (PSD), emphasized the urgent need for education reform during the PSD Timiș County Election Conference. Ciolacu expressed concern over the existence of classrooms in which only three students are enrolled in second grade, stating that the current situation is unacceptable and leads to wastefulness. He argued that a comprehensive plan is necessary in order to revamp the education system and restore pride in the quality of teaching.
Furthermore, Ciolacu pledged to fulfil his promise of salary increases for teachers. He affirmed that the salaries of beginner teachers will be equivalent to the average net salary across the economy. In order to devise an effective reform plan, Ciolacu underlined the importance of engaging in discussions with rectors and teachers.
Another crucial issue that Ciolacu highlighted was the rising threat of drug abuse among children. He stressed the importance of providing children with a clear understanding of the dangers of drugs, particularly the devastating impact of alternative substances. Ciolacu called for increased intervention by Romanian authorities, including both the Directorate for Investigating Organized Crime and Terrorism (DIICOT) and the Public Ministry, to apprehend drug dealers swiftly. The leader of PSD emphasized his strong stance against allowing our children to become subjects of experimentation and declared his determination to eradicate this issue completely.
