Acest loc este cunoscut și drept ”Capela Sixtină a Estului” și a fost ctitorit de Ștefan cel Mare. Un aspect fascinant al acestei construcții este culoarea sa albastră. Se află la 36 de kilometri de Suceava și la 4 kilometri de Gura Humorului.
Mănăstirea Voroneț este un important loc de pelerinaj pentru români, care vin aici nu doar pentru a se ruga, ci și pentru a se bucura de frumusețea peisajului înconjurător. De asemenea, ei vin să vadă personal nuanța unică de albastru pentru care este faimoasă.

Se spune că pereții mănăstirii au fost pictați de meșteri atunci când încă nu se uscaseră, ceea ce a dus la o fuziune perfectă cu tencuiala.

Mănăstirea Voroneț, built in just three months and three weeks
Voroneț Monastery was built in 1488, in just three months and three weeks, after Ștefan cel Mare, the ruler of Moldavia, defeated the Turks in another battle. It is said that Ștefan cel Mare consulted with a great hermit of the Moldavian regions, Father Daniil, before the construction of Voroneț Monastery.
According to historical documents, Ștefan cel Mare, exhausted from battles with the Turks, but determined not to let them conquer us, went to his spiritual advisor and shared his thoughts. The monk advised the ruler to go into battle, defeat the Turks, and then build a new monastery, as he always did after each victory.
”And Stephen-Vodă, going up to Moldavia from the fortress of Neamț, went by Voroneț, where a hermit father named Daniil lived. And as Stephen-Vodă knocked on the hermit’s door, the hermit asked him to wait outside until he finished his prayer. And after he finished his prayer, he called Stephen-Vodă into his cell. And Stephen-Vodă confessed to him.
And Stephen-Vodă asked the hermit what he should do, for he could no longer fight the Turks; should he surrender the country, or not? And the hermit said not to surrender it, for the war was his, but after he would have won, he should build a monastery there, in the name of Saint George, to be celebrated as the church’s feast day”, appears in the chronicles of Ion Neculce.
