Budescu praised by Gică Hagi after Farul – Sepsi 2-1
At the end of the Farul – Sepsi 2-1 match, in the 11th round of the SuperLiga, Gică Hagi praised Constantin Budescu and was extremely firm in stating that this victory is entirely thanks to his playmaking abilities.
“We had a very good first half, but we made mistakes. A big mistake when defending low. We needed to be more careful. At half-time, I spoke to the players and I’m glad that they were patient and built up the play. I was upset that we conceded a goal, but I’m glad that… Even though my tone was a bit higher, I’m glad they remained calm and won.”
“He (referring to Budescu) won us three points. He is on the right track. I don’t think there are any more questions about the quality he possesses. If the players perform well, it’s clear that we are a team. We showed last year that we know football. Nedelcu has a knee problem. It seems better in the locker room, but we will see, we don’t know.”
“How do I know who will make it to the national team? I believe Louis Munteanu has enormous potential, he is young, and he has good finishing skills. He needs to improve physically. He played a little at Fiorentina, then he played a lot for us, every three days,” Hagi stated.
Budescu frustrated after a missed opportunity
Despite scoring the winning goal, Constantin Budescu appeared extremely upset after missing a great chance: “How do I feel? Nervous, I needed this victory. We won against a very good team and we are happy about that.”
“We had a very good second half. I had that opportunity and I wasted it. I ruined my evening, but it doesn’t matter anymore. I wanted to take a shot first time, as I always try in these situations. It’s quite difficult, we have a lot to catch up on because we have lost many matches and, consequently, points.”
“We have to come from behind and be up there. We were in a delicate situation, it’s good that we came out of it. We went through a period with many games, now we only have the championship left, and I hope we make it to the playoffs,” he added.
Larie no longer wants to take penalties
“A very tough match, but we played well and we are happy to have earned the 3 points and entered the playoff zone. I wanted to score as well, but it’s not a problem because I will score in Galați. We can do better, but we are on the right track.
“We can reach the form we had last year if we make it to the playoffs, we will compete for the first position. At half-time, the coach told us that we need to be more focused and start the second half well,” said forward Louis Munteanu.
“I scored, but with a lot of nerves. I was lucky. I didn’t want to take the penalty, but the coach assigned it to me. In the next match, I will leave it to Budescu or Munteanu, whoever is on the field. We set ourselves the goal of earning the 3 points, and we did that, that’s the most important thing. We aim to reach the playoffs, we have tough matches ahead, but we hope to improve.”
“I don’t know how we conceded the goal, we made a lot of mistakes. The ball was in our box for about 2-3 minutes and we couldn’t clear it. When you concede a goal just before half-time, it affects your morale, but we came back strong after the break,” stated captain Ionuț Larie.
