George Simion, alongside his wife and other AUR leaders, attended the “Golden Sausage” event in Bucharest last weekend. The politician was involved in a scandal during this event.
George Simion in the spotlight at a sausage festival in the capital
While enjoying the festival in the capital, the president of the AUR party was approached by a young man. The latter did not spare the politician and accused him of being a supporter of the Russians.
Tensions quickly escalated after the citizen’s remarks. According to a video that appeared on social media websites, George Simion loses his temper and appears to hit the young man with his phone, grabbing him by the arm.

- George Simion: I don’t know… Some idiot came to me to ask why I support the Russians.
- Youth: Ooooo! So, you’re making a stupid Romanian?

- Youth: Yes, Romanian! Through and through!
- George Simion: Well, we have smart people and stupid people.
- Youth: Aah, how nice! And what are the Russians like? How are the Russians?

- Youth: Don’t touch the phone! Don’t touch the phone! He touched me…
- George Simion: Do you want me to do it again?! Damn it…!
The “Golden Sausage” festival took place from September 29th to October 1st at Verde Stop Arena in Bucharest (162-164 Barbu Vacarescu Street). As the name suggests, the stars of the event were sausages.
Simion also clashed with other individuals at the event
The incident with the young man in question was not the only tense episode at the event in the capital. On the same Saturday evening, Simion allegedly argued with a young woman. “Goodbye, goodbye,” she reportedly told the AUR leader while he was at a table, as reported by Aktual.24.
In response, Simion filmed her and her friends and posted it on the party’s Facebook page: “The USR members are upset that they no longer enter Parliament and have sent their only remaining members to the Golden Sausage festival in Bucharest,” he wrote.
According to the latest opinion polls, AUR is well ahead of USR in the preferences of Romanians. An INSCOP survey highlighted that “If parliamentary elections were held next Sunday,” 31% of those who vote said they would vote for PSD, 20.4% for PNL, 19.7% for AUR, and 12% for USR.
