Angels of the SMURD saved a woman’s life in Suceava
Paramedics in the ambulance service save lives not only when they are called through emergency services and dispatched on missions. An eloquent example of how these “angels” watch over citizens was given by a SMURD crew in Suceava, who promptly intervened when they noticed an unusual situation on the street.
The victim’s companion hadn’t thought to call 112
The SMURD B2 ambulance was returning from a call, and in the roundabout in the center of Suceava, one of the paramedics noticed, out of the corner of his eye, in the side mirror of the vehicle, how a woman collapsed, hit her head on the asphalt and remained unconscious. The woman was accompanied by another who had been unsuccessful in trying to lift her from the ground.
The paramedic asked his colleague at the wheel to turn around, so after completing the roundabout, the ambulance was turned and parked in front of the two women. The victim’s companion was extremely surprised, especially since she hadn’t even thought of calling 112.
“Immediately, the rescuers monitored the woman, who had since regained consciousness. However, the parameters indicated that her condition was serious. The blood pressure monitor showed very high values, and the electrocardiogram was altered – ‘mountains and hills,’ as the paramedics describe the irregular lines on the paper…”, according to the Facebook post by the General Inspectorate for Emergency Situations (IGSU), where the incident was described.
Tears in her eyes, the victim’s companion addressed the rescuers: “God sent you… You’re her angels! People speak so highly of the SMURD for a reason.”
After a few minutes, it was confirmed at the Emergency Department of the Suceava County Hospital that the woman had suffered a heart attack. Now stabilized in the hospital bed, she squeezed the hands of her saving angels.
“May God take care of your children as you take care of the people on the street,” she told them. The three angels are Midshipman Adjutant Marian Iencean, Chief Midshipman Adjutant Marius Iavni, and Midshipman Adjutant Marius Ciobotar.
Not as fortunate was a 43-year-old woman from Milișăuți commune, also in Suceava county, who died on Tuesday shortly after drinking her morning coffee.
Seeing that she was taking more than five minutes looking for a clothing item for her father, the family became concerned and went looking for her in the room where she had gone, only to find her lifeless on the floor. An ambulance was immediately called, but despite resuscitation efforts, she could not be saved. The cause of death was cardiac arrest.
