Supporters of Dinamo Bucharest expressed their frustration during a recent match against FC U Craiova. The fans chanted “What are we doing?” to the players, to which defender Razvan Patriche responded, “What do you want us to do?” This exchange took place as the players approached the stands to applaud and engage with the disgruntled supporters. However, tensions escalated quickly, with the ultras from the stands hurling insults and booing the Dinamo players, who eventually retreated to the locker room.
Dinamo Fans Reach a Breaking Point: “Go Home!” One Player Stands His Ground
The players’ attempt to mend the relationship with the disillusioned fans did not go as planned. Despite the fact that it was a derby match, the players under Ovidiu Burca’s leadership were fully aware of the significant difference in quality between the two teams. However, the fans were not interested in hearing excuses, leading to the escalation of the situation.
Prior to the match, coach Ovidiu Burca had warned his players about the lack of patience among the supporters. As a result, Dinamo needed to produce results quickly. Promoting to a higher division is no longer seen as a major accomplishment by the fans, and a potential relegation could be a disaster for the club.
“It is time to put pressure on the players, a pressure they must withstand. People are running out of patience. However, I feel that they are coping quite well. The team is united and resilient. This is the moment when they can turn the situation around.
I am a demanding coach, and I only apply pressure when my players are capable of handling it. I believe they can handle the pressure now. They seem prepared. I don’t know if we would settle for a draw. We want to win,” stated Ovidiu Burca before the match.
As reported by FANATIK during the Dinamo – FCSB match, the “Red Dogs” ultras were divided and did not stand together in the stands. The majority of the fans, around 5,000 supporters, occupied the left side of the official grandstand. On the other hand, two factions, including Dinamo Nostrum Lux (DNL) with approximately 100 ultras, gathered in the second grandstand.
Around 400 supporters from FCD Sud also occupied the second grandstand, but on the right side, close to the FCSB fans. Despite this, there was a buffer zone between the rival fans and several security forces were prepared to intervene if the situation worsened.
Dinamo fans have every reason to be dissatisfied considering their club has only accumulated 10 points in 17 matches, with a goal difference of -19. Furthermore, the team has lost 4 out of their last 5 games and managed just one draw. Avoiding relegation now seems increasingly challenging for Dinamo. Currently, FC Botosani sits at the bottom of the standings, although they still have the ability to recover.
Unfortunately for Dinamo, teams from 14th place onwards have aspirations of qualifying for the playoffs, with the exception of FCU Craiova 1948 (15 points). Therefore, given the insignificant point difference between UTA Arad (13th place – 19 points) and Farul Constanta (7th place – 22 points), it is understandable why no other team appears to be as prone to relegation as Dinamo.
