Gheorghe Dungu, who defended the goal in over 200 matches played by Rapid between 1948 and 1963, passed away recently.

Dungu was the oldest former player of Rapid. He defended the goal of the team in over 200 matches in the top league. After graduating from IEFS, he remained in the club for some time as the goalkeeper coach. Among those he trained was Rică Răducanu.
