Specialists searching for a natural remedy to mitigate the harmful effects of alcohol consumption have discovered a summer vegetable that stands out for its healing properties. The team of researchers led by Dr. Xiang-Dong Wang from Tufts University in Boston tested the beneficial effect of tomatoes on laboratory mice exposed to alcohol. Over the course of the four weeks, three types of tomatoes were tested on the lab subjects.
The analysis data showed that tomato powder reduced alcohol-induced damage in 90% of the lab mice. These results align with the conclusions of other previous studies that have highlighted the fact that lycopene alone cannot treat liver damage.
