Zagreb, Croatia (December 2, 2023 – January 7, 2024)
In the past, Zagreb received an extremely important vote from the European Best Destinations website. It was named the “Best Christmas Market in Europe” for three consecutive years starting in 2016. Visitors can expect a “rich program of events, concerts, gastronomy, ice skating, activities for children, and much more.” Experts also mention the “aroma of mulled wine and local delicacies.”
Brussels, Belgium (November 24 – December 31, 2023)
The Grand Place in Brussels is transformed into a popular destination for more than a month, attracting over 2.5 million visitors annually. “The warm and cheerful atmosphere will surround visitors from around the world. Cultural and entertaining activities, original gift ideas, and other novelties await, creating unforgettable moments,” says EBD. Santa Claus and his elves will be present every evening to meet the young visitors.
Vienna, Austria (November 11 – December 26, 2023)
The City Hall Square in Vienna is transformed into a fairytale land in mid-November. Visitors can expect Christmas gifts, tree decorations, sweets, hot drinks, and a carousel, as well as fun workshops. The site notes many concerts, events for children, and dozens of stalls offering traditional seasonal food, plus plenty of other treats for those with a sweet tooth. Even the Schönbrunn Palace area will be dressed up for the occasion.
Metz, France (November 24 – December 30, 2023)
One of the best Christmas markets in France. EBD notes, “Let the lights chase away the dark winter days and enjoy traditional delights such as a carousel or take the chance to stock up on gourmet products.” There will be a large Ferris wheel near the Cathedral, as well as many leisure activities. Prague, Czech Republic (December 2, 2023 – January 6, 2024)
The Old Town Square in Prague is stunning any other day of the year, but during Christmas, it undergoes a radical transformation with lights and a massive Christmas tree dominating the square. The Christmas Market in Wroclaw is considered one of the best in Poland and one of the most beautiful in Europe, according to European Best Destinations. Located in the “Rynek Marquet Square,” visitors can enjoy daily gastronomic products from around the world, not just Polish cuisine. Concerts, events for children, and a series of special moments, all under the name “Christmas Magic in Fairy Tales,” will also be held.
Manchester, United Kingdom (November 11 – December 22, 2023)
Christmas events in Manchester have been organized since 1999, making it the first Christmas market ever organized in the UK. The market has grown every year, and approximately 300 beautifully crafted stalls offer delicious international food, drinks, and gifts, according to tourism experts. This year’s edition promises “LED performers, magicians, and street theater.”
Bolzano, Italy (November 24, 2023 – January 6, 2024)
