Monica Tatoiu, a 67-year-old retiree, was invited to the “Un podcast” hosted by Geanina Iacob, where she talked about her monthly pension, her salary when she was working, and the reproaches her son made about her absence in his life.
Monica Tatoiu takes pride in being a successful businesswoman who now leads a peaceful life. She often goes on vacations with her husband, a former cardiologist, and claims they have never had any financial problems.
Monica Tatoiu: “I sleep peacefully at night, I have a pension of 22,000 lei”
Currently, she receives a monthly pension of 22,000 lei. “Yes, I am a millionaire. You should know that everything comes with a cost. My son grew up with my two chauffeurs and the maid, and he reproaches me for that. Many of his flaws are because I didn’t have time for him. Do you know what it’s like to commute to New Delhi every week?”
But besides my money, all of which is in Romania, I sleep peacefully at night, I haven’t done anything shady, and I also have a pension of 22,000 lei. I am very smart and modest, and I managed to become wealthy without stealing. A message for the youth: You don’t have to steal to become rich, and not all wealthy people are toxic, as some say,” said Monica Tatoiu during the podcast.
She tells the story of how she couldn’t spend much time with her son due to her busy schedule. “I worked for 15 years, almost destroyed my family, and got sick. My son still reproaches me for that, but I asked him, who paid for his toys and schools? But he tells me, ‘Mom, I would have preferred to have you by my side. You didn’t have to send me to the American school, but to read to me in the evenings,’ that’s what he told me.
I am a millionaire with some costs. I have always had money, I never experienced poverty, since I was 17. Before that, I took baths in a basin and slept with my father, mother, and brother in one room, and suddenly my father started earning a lot of money. At that time, he was earning 85,000 lei per month. My father had patients from Budapest, Belgrade, and Vienna,” she further explained.
“I had a salary of 40,000 euros, and all the taxes were paid”
Back when she was working, Monica Tatoiu used to earn up to 40,000 euros per month. She says she learned this from her father, who worked until exhaustion. “I never had any problems. I never asked for a salary raise, it was always given to me. I had a salary of 40,000 euros, and all the taxes were paid.
I should have known when to stop earlier, and my father was the same. In 25 years, I saw him for only one hour per week. He was always in the hospital, and he died there. He didn’t have a vacation in 25 years, and I copied him. His profession was his life. I even forgot my child under the desk once, and I realized in the car that he was missing. Everything comes with a cost. It hurts when my son says that to me. That’s life, no one is perfect,” she concluded.
