Apple blames software error and app issues, such as Instagram and Uber, for reported overheating of recently launched iPhone 15 models, according to SkyNews.
The American company, headquartered in Cupertino, California, stated over the weekend that they are working on an update to the IOS17 operating system, which powers the iPhone 15 range, to prevent phone overheating. Additionally, Apple mentioned that they are collaborating with the representatives of the applications that contribute to system overload.
“We have identified a few issues causing the iPhone 15 to heat up more than expected,” Apple stated in a brief communication, following complaints about overheating that appeared on online forums.
Although the company did not specify when the software update they are working on will be ready, its representatives have declared that there are no safety concerns preventing iPhone 15 owners from using their devices while awaiting the update.
Apple denies alleged main causes of iPhone 15 overheating
The company emphasized that the overheating issue is not related to the titanium casing, as some users have claimed, which is included in the new models instead of the previous stainless steel one used in older smartphones.
Furthermore, the tech giant dismissed speculations that the overheating of iPhone 15 devices is connected to the transition from their Lightning charging cable to the USB-C port, a change made to comply with EU regulations.
Meta Platforms-owned Instagram has already modified its social media application earlier this week to prevent device overheating on the latest iPhone operating system.
Uber and other applications, such as the Asphalt 9 video game, are still in the process of implementing their updates, stated Apple.
