Kevin McCarthy, Speaker of the House, has announced a formal impeachment inquiry into President Joe Biden, stating that it will give the committees the power to gather all the facts and answers for the American public. “It’s exactly what we want to know, answers,” McCarthy declared, according to Fox News.
The Republican leader stated that the allegations of Biden benefiting from his son Hunter Biden’s foreign business dealings are “serious” and “credible.” He has ordered the oversight, judiciary, and ways and means committees in the House of Representatives to conduct the impeachment investigation.
“I am directing our House committees to open a formal impeachment inquiry into President Joe Biden. Over the past several months, House Republicans have uncovered serious and credible allegations into President Biden’s conduct—a culture of corruption,” McCarthy tweeted.
Biden has denied any involvement in his son’s foreign activities, and the White House has stated that the President is not involved in Hunter Biden’s business ventures.
However, McCarthy believes that the allegations discovered so far warrant further investigation by the House. It remains unclear whether there is widespread Republican support for this escalation of investigations into Biden and Hunter Biden.
