ActualitateAlertă alimentară: Pește contaminat cu bacteria Listeria retras de un important lanț de supermarketuri din România

Carrefour, the supermarket chain, is recalling several batches of Norwegian smoked salmon fillets produced by OCEAN FISH due to the presence of Listeria monocytogenes.

“We inform you that OCEAN FISH S.RL. has initiated the withdrawal of the product listed below, due to the detection of Listeria monocytogenes. CARREFOUR ROMÂNIA S.A. is withdrawing from the market and recalling the following product with the identification details below: SMOKED NORWEGIAN SALMON FILLET 200G and SMOKED NORWEGIAN SALMON FILLET, SLICED 100G,” reads an announcement posted on the ANSVSA website.

The source recommends that individuals who possess products from the described batches do not consume them but instead destroy or return them to the stores where they were purchased.

“The value of the products will be refunded without the need to present the fiscal receipt,” Carrefour stated.

Individuals who have consumed the products and exhibit simple or accompanied fever, as well as headaches, are urged to consult a doctor and report this consumption.

“Pregnant women, individuals with weakened immune systems, as well as the elderly, should pay special attention to these symptoms. These symptoms may suggest listeriosis, a potentially serious disease with an incubation period of up to eight weeks,” the announcement further states.

A similar issue was reported at the end of August.

What is Listeria?

Listeria is a bacteria commonly found in untreated animal products.

By being infected with this bacteria, listeriosis occurs. Listeriosis can cause severe symptoms and long-term complications, especially in individuals with weakened immunity, including pregnant women.

Listeriosis is not contagious and does not spread from person to person, except for pregnant women who can transmit it to the fetus.
