Violențele au continuat duminică, 4 august, în Marea Britanie pentru a patra zi la rând. Unii dintre participanții la manifestații au vadalizat clădiri, au incendiat obiecte și au atacat forțele de ordine. Aproape 150 de persoane au fost arestate în timpul revoltelor din weekend, relatează AFP, citată de News.ro.
Revoltele au izbucnit după atacul cu cuțitul comis în urmă cu o săptămână la Southport, în nord-vestul Angliei, unde trei fete au fost ucise, iar alți copii și adulți, răniți. În acest context, pe rețelele sociale au început să circule dezinformări despre religia și originea presupusului atacator.
Protestele au avut loc sub sloganul „Destul este destul”, cu referire migranții care ajung în Marea Britanie traversând Canalul Mânecii.
În orașul Tamworth din apropiere de Birmingham, poliția a intervenit în zona unui hotel despre care spune că era vizat de un „grup mare de indivizi”.

Aceştia „au aruncat cu proiectile, au spart geamuri, au provocat incendii şi au luat la ţintă poliţia”, un ofiţer fiind rănit.
Incidente au avut loc și la Rotherham, în nordul Angliei, unde, în fața unui hotel în care sunt găzduiți solicitanți de azil s-au adunat sute de persoane și au avut loc ciocniri cu poliția, cel puțin zece ofițeri fiind răniți.
„Scoateţi-i afară”, a fost unul dintre mesajele scandate de manifestanți, unii dintre ei spărgând geamuri, declanșând incendii și aruncând proiectile înspre polițiști.
De asemenea, unii dintre participanții la revolte au intrat în hotel, dar nu este clar dacă în acel moment se aflau acolo solicitanți de azil.
Manifestații au avut loc și în Middlesbrough, unde camera unei echipe AFP a fost spartă, precum și la Aldershot, Bolton şi Weymouth.
În acest context, premierul britanic Keir Starmer a declarat că guvernul va face „tot ce este necesar pentru a-i aduce pe huligani în faţa justiţiei cât mai repede posibil”.
